This time of year, I find that I buy a lot sweaters. So, I thought I would break sweater shopping down into 4 essential categories of what you must have in your fall/winter 2017 wardrobe.

1. Chunky/Oversized Turtleneck

Nothing is more comfortable or more versatile than a chunky turtleneck. Throw one on with some jeans, or even a midi skirt, and some boots and you have yourself an instant outfit! I also wear them a lot with athletic leggings to run errands.

2. Basic Crewneck

I have some really old crewneck sweaters in my closet that I still wear- I’m talking passed down from my mom ha! This basic sweater style is so classic and chic that it will last you forever- especially if it’s cashmere. Keep in mind most of the options shown come in many other colors…

3. Long Cardigan

This would be my current favorite staple. They’re just so easy! And look so cool! Can’t get any better than that. I personally love them paired with a thick belt, denim, and ankle boots.

4. The Statement

Some of you might think a statement sweater is not a staple. But, I would disagree. It is a staple because it makes for an interesting outfit without being fussy. A statement sweater could mean ruffle details, patterns, and bright colors. If you want to be on trend, go for the ‘Apres Ski’ pattern or a bold red.

5. Layering Turtleneck

This staple is not the most exciting, but it does come in handy. A lot. A simple turtleneck is great to wear with a jacket or to layer under other sweaters. This season, try layering a white turtleneck instead of black for a fresh look!
